It's a Small World After All

There seems to be an invisible circle that surounds the film industry, slamming all of us into one another repeatedly;  but once you’re in, you’re in. Even if you don't know someone persoanlly, you can usually identify them from filmmaker mixers. festivals or social media-or stories from another set. Sometimes, though, we get out of our own circles and end up in another circuit altogether.

Working as a location scout in Detroit, we stumbled upon the set of yet another Transformers film. The location is a hot-spot for film and TV productions and we took our photos while constantly being reminded by the Transformers crew to not "touch anything". Back at the hotel we bumped into actors and crew from a Police/Fire/Rescue TV show, and two more of our shoot locations had set designs going up and striking for undisclosed Superhero films.

The same thing is happening all over the states…Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and yes, Detroit-thanks to State tax credit breaks and local infrastructure.  For example, Ohio has a refundable 30% tax credit for productions with a budget over $300K, with priority given to TV shows and series. We'll discuss the tax credit in another article, but you can read up on it here: https://development.ohio.gov/business/ohio-film-office/ohio-film-program

I'AMedia has worked with several local and cable television stations such as ABC, ESPN, A&E and Discovery.
